چکیده

BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to determine the effect febrile convulsion (FC) on neuromotor development. METHODS Data 325 patients, who were followed up at our outpatient clinic and diagnosed with FC between January 2012 December 2018, retrospectively evaluated. Of these 203 underwent Denver Developmental Screening Test II (DDST II) included in as patient group 100 healthy children control group. RESULTS group, 84 (41.4%) girls 119 (58.6%) boys (B/G: 1.4). all 163 (80.3%) simple FC, 22 (10.8%) complicated 18 (8.9%) FC+. There no significant relationship found subtypes gender, family history epilepsy, iron (Fe) deficiency, Fe deficiency anemia. DDST subtest points significantly lower developmental areas when compared controls (p < 0.001), while suspected abnormal test results higher (p=0.01). It also determined that language age first seizure increased (r=- 0.319, p 0.01). CONCLUSIONS Although is known usually having a good prognosis, low measured indicated may pose risk patients should be terms features. Because retrospective nature study, there `preconvulsion` evaluation. This major limitation study.

Hyponatraemia in children with febrile convulsions.

In a study of 23 children admitted to hospital with a febrile convulsion, mild hyponatraemia was found on 8 occasions. In 6 of these cases there was evidence of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone. The hyponatraemia is unlikely to be the cause of the convulsion, but probably predisposes the child to a subsequent convulsion during the same febrile illness.
